Vintage Coach Metropolitan Briefcase - Black 1
The Find: Andy Sachs's bag in The Devil Wears Prada 2. Anne Hathaway carries the vintage Coach Metropolitan Briefcase through the entire sequel, a piece costume designer Molly Rogers pulled directly from the archive. This is the original, dated December 1994, crafted in the United States from glove-tanned leather before Coach moved production overseas. The Metropolitan first launched in 1987. Forty years later, it is the most-referenced handbag in cinema.
Curator's note: I personally cross-referenced this piece against verified on-set photography from filming to confirm the silhouette, hardware, and proportions match Hathaway's screen bag exactly. This is the same archive style, in its 1994 original form.
